Renovations Ongoing at York Airport

Stewart & Tate Construction is excited to announce that they are managing renovations to the terminal at York Airport in Thomasville, PA! The facility is being redesigned and modernized to better cater to passengers, flight crews, and visitors. Renovations include improved HVAC, lighting, and internet service, an upgraded café with kitchenette, expanded restrooms, a revamped flight planning room and pilots’ lounge plus a floor to ceiling glass lobby with spectacular runway views. Construction is expected to wrap up later this spring.

Progress includes the installation of stormwater structures and piping. The masonry foundation block has been successfully completed, and work has commenced on the concrete masonry unit stair tower and elevator shaft walls.

York Building Products donated 10 picnic tables to Elk Neck Elementary for their outdoor classroom space. This sustainable green school, featuring native plantings and rain gardens, fosters learning in a beautiful environment. This space was built in 1991 on land donated by the Stewart Family.

Giving back to the communities we live and work in has always been a core value of the Stewart Companies. Our Community Engagement Committee, comprised of individuals from Stewart Companies, Stewart & Tate, and York Building Products, finds ways to encourage engagement from our team through volunteering, donations, and making an impact in our local communities.

Our first community engagement activity for 2024 was to partner with York County Food Bank and York County Coalition on Homelessness to collect items to support our unsheltered population in York County. We are thrilled to announce that our team members came together and collected 294 lbs of food which was used to fill 50 individual bags that will be distributed to those in need!

Health Center Highlights Creative Use of Concrete Masonry Units

The new Mount Nittany Health Toftrees Outpatient Center currently under construction in State College, PA, boasts a unique design, featuring a blend of various York Building Products concrete masonry colors for the building envelope. Adding to the visual appeal, the architects integrated a variety of our block finishes to lend the structure a textured look. To enhance the aesthetic further, the walls incorporate multiple-height blocks, resulting in a dispersed, ashlar appearance.

Crafting such a intricate array of masonry units poses a significant challenge for the architect, and the installation of these diverse units demands a well-coordinated and focused team of contractors to ensure successful execution.

We extend our appreciation to everyone involved in this project– Harris Masonry, Alexander Building Construction (The Butz Family of Companies), and Stantec — from the initial design phase through the completion of construction.
